Jérusalem: Ecce Homo.

The establishment of sisters of N.D. de Sion strated in 1860. Its purpose was the bringing up together of children of different Christian rites and subsequently the children of different religions: Jews, Moslems and Christians.

The House is know as " Ecce Homo". It is situated in the Via Dolorosa in the Moslem Quarter of the Old City.

In its underground treasures of inestimable value were discovered: the Struthion Pool, dating back from Herod's time ( 35 B.C.);the Pavement called " Lithostrotos" from the time of Emperor Hadrian, which was part of the Roman highway and furthermore, an arch spanning the Via Dolorosa, also dating from Hadrian ( known as the Ecce Homo Arch), which is partly included in our buildings.

Since 1967, when the Israëli authority took over from the Jordanian, the House opened to three different activities:

* hospitality to guests and pilgrims, usually foreigners,

* visit of the basements

* a Biblical Programme, both in English and French, either in one or two semesters.

Terraces on the 2nd and 3rd floor overlook the Old City, especially the new Jewish Quarter ( Ex Temple Mount ).

This situation, among Jews, Moslems and Christians is a call for many of us to join the various religious " mixed" groups of the three religions which strive for mutual understanding, reconciliation and support.
