In an Islamic country, among the
children of Abraham, in Nabeul: Janine, a retired former philosophy
teacher, and Aracely, a midwife who used to work in a maternity ward
and in centers for the protection of mothers and infants. Now we are
part of a Tunisian NGO,
"La Voix de l'Enfant" ("The Voice of the Child"),
which brings us into daily contact with Tunisians. This is dialogue
through life. La Voix de l'Enfant is an association which helps children
in difficulty, and it fights against all forms of exclusion of children.
Together with the Tunisians, we have the same struggles for the same
values; we are placing the same bet on life.
1) We work in a Center which takes
in abandoned children or children waiting for their biological mother
to find a solution which will allow her to take her child back. The
children are prepared to leave with adoptive parents, and parents prepare
to adopt a child.
2)
"I have a right to my mama." The aim of this project is to
support, to listen and to accompany mothers who are alone so that they
can be reintegrated in a society which is very severe towards them.
"A place of listening", of encounter and of dialogue, "a
space of freedom," which allows these women little by little to
become upright and which gives them "reference points" for
assuming their life.
3) The Association includes other
activities:
A kindergarten in a very marginalized area where uprooted families live
who are not well received; its aim is to help these children to begin
a normal school life and to be harmoniously integrated. A center of
animation for children in hospital, at the service of the pediatric
department of the hospital: games, music, drawing, dance, theater
everything which allows the children to have a good morale and to get
well faster.
Living dialogue today with Muslim
Tunisians means rebuilding life with them, means letting people stand
"upright", means fighting together for the same values. That
is something magnificent! We invite you to try that same kind of "DIALOGUE".
